Sofia Santos

Sofia Almeida Santos is Research Fellow and Knowledge Broker at the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the University of Porto. Between 2020 and 2022, she has been an Expert Adviser of the Cabinet of the Minister of Education of Portugal on education policies. She has a European Ph.D. (2015) in Educational Sciences in the fields of sex education, citizenship and gender studies (in partnership with Cambridge and Leeds Universities). She also has a postdoc at the international large-scale project “RESL.eu – Reducing Early School Leaving in the EU” [2013-2018]). As member of CIIE since 2006, she has actively collaborated in several research projects, engaging in international mobilities (Warwick University), giving lectures and publishing in her fields of interest (ex. Book: Sexualidades, Juventude e Gravidez Adolescente a Noroeste de Portugal). She was an expert adviser of the National Strategy for Citizenship Education, of the Azores Regional Directorate for Education, and Member of the Portuguese Scientific and Pedagogical Council of in-service Training.
