Many of the challenges we now face regarding our country’s education are not new. They do however take on a special relevance at this time; the current social and economic context allows us to consider our educational commitments in greater depth and with more ambition than in recent years.
If we aspire to build and strengthen an education system of quality, efficiency and equality that is situated in the top tier of the world’s education systems, we would do well to take advantage of the window of opportunity we currently have.
In the series “Education in Catalonia: The Necessary Commitments” we invite you to discuss a key selection of these commitments.
- Commitment 1: Investing more, investing better. Where should we be directing educational resources in the coming years?
- Commitment 3: Continuing education beyond Compulsory Secondary Education. How to move towards a compulsory post-secondary education for all.
- Commitment 4: For a fair and egalitarian choice of schools. How to create a non-segregated framework of school selection.
- Commitment 5: Success in disadvantaged schools: What types of policies should there be for highly complex schools?
The Necessary Commitments series of discussions will feature presentations and panel discussions with the main experts in each one of the challenges and issues presented, the principal educational and social actors in each case, as well as the education authorities in Catalonia.
