Interview to Aaron Benavot, Director of the UNESCO GMR team. Held in Barcelona on May 7th within the International Perspectives on Education Conference conducted by Jaume Bofill Foundation and UNESCO Center of Catalonia: Presentation of the new UNESCO report "Education for all 2000-2015" at Barcelona.
Brief
The new report is the prime instrument to assess global progress in achieving the six goals set fortnightly at the World Education Forum in 2000 in Dakar, which was one of the most important educational campaigns of all time. The report provides information on policies and practices that have helped or hindered a better education for everyone, as well as the influence of trends in domestic financing and international aid flows. Finally, the report provides clear recommendations to help political leaders worldwide, regional and national landmark in defining the objectives of education and post 2015.
After 15 years since the establishment of the Millennium Development Goals, we are at a major turning point. 2015 is the key year in defining the global political agenda for the next 15 years. It is important from Catalonia also participate in this debate, we endorse the need to think of new educational objectives of the international agenda. As well as many countries and organizations around the world that are involved in this mission, from Catalonia can also provide suggestions for further work. That is why the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia and the Jaume Bofill Foundation are driving the initiative http://www.EduPost2015.cat (framed in this event).
