Joan Majó Cruzate

Joan Majó Cruzate holds an industrial engineer’s degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and is a FEANI Eur Ing. An active businessman under constant training, he has founded and directed several enterprises in Catalonia and the rest of Spain, all of them specialised in electronics and information technology, including Telesincro, SA, the first company in Spain to produce computers with its own technology in the 1960s.

At present he is the president of the Ernest Lluch Foundation, the president of the Cercle pel Coneixement (Knowledge Circle), a member of CAREC, and treasurer of the Societat Barcelonesa d’Amics del País (Barcelona Society of Friends of the Country).

During his political period, he served as the mayor of Mataró and as the Spanish Minister of Industry and Energy during the second term of President Felipe González. In Brussels, he was an advisor of the European Commission under the presidency of Jacques Delors, in addition to being the chairman of the Information Society Forum and the president of the European Institute for the Media (EIM) in Düsseldorf.

He has been the director of the Catalan Radio and Television Corporation (CCRTV).

Joan Majó Cruzate is the author of several books on the evolution of today's society, including: Xips, cables i poder (1996), No m’ho crec! (2009), Després de tocar fons (2010) and El món que ve.... ja el tenim aquí (2013).
