“I define myself as an activist for free knowledge and for digital rights”

Àlex Hinojo Sánchez

Knowledge manager. I like to analyse complex organisations and help to define medium-term strategies in cultural and educational institutions. I am a graduate in Business Sciences (Autonomous University of Barcelona-UAB/Open University of Catalonia-UOC) with post-graduate degrees in Cultural Management (University of Barcelona-UB) and Museology (Pompeu Fabra University-UPF). I have specialised in cultural dissemination on the Internet through open platforms, especially with respect to the Catalan Wikipedia. I also define myself as an activist for free knowledge and for digital rights.

I have worked with the leading museums, libraries, archives and universities of the Catalan Countries, and with various international institutions, disseminating the benefits of working in an open, networked, decentralised and collaborative way.

At present I am working as the digital coordinator of the Institut Ramon Llull, internationalising the Catalan language and culture, and I appear in the radio programmes El món a Rac1 and Popap on Catalunya Ràdio.

I was previously the director of Amical Wikimedia, an organisation in which I promoted various cultural and educational projects, and that received the National Culture Award in 2014 for its contribution to universal knowledge in the Catalan language and for making it possible for knowledge about Catalan culture to be accessible in any language.

I am also a co-founder of the Drets Digitals project, created to defend human rights in the digital environment, such as the right to privacy, the right to access to information and the right to freedom of expression, among many others.
