Bernat Ferrer

Bernat Ferrer graduated in Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 2004 and in 2018 he carried out a master’s degree on International Relations, Security and Development in that same university.

As the father of pupils attending the town of Igualada’s Gabriel Castellà school, which has been declared an institution of “maximum complexity” by the Catalan Education Ministry, Bernat was the president of the school’s parents association between 2016 and 2022. During his term of office, he reactivated the High Complexity Committee of the Parents’ Federation of Catalonia (FAPAC), a body which contributed to the final drafting of the Pact Against School Segregation promoted by the Ombudsman of Catalonia. As the board member in charge of Communication at FAPAC, in 2017 Bernat promoted the campaign “Let’s Trust Our Public Schools!”, which obtained the participation of both the President of the Government of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau.

Bernat Ferrer was also the co-promoter of the Schools Against Segregation Group, a signatory entity of the Pact Against School Segregation (2019), and he was a promoter of the campaign “Do you vote here? Then send your children to school here!” (2022), likewise collaborating on the promotion of the Alliance Against School Segregation (2020) of Save the Children, CERMI and the Gypsy Secretariat Foundation.

In the local sphere, he was also the representative of the families of Igualada’s public schools on the Admission Guarantees Commission in the school years 2019/20 and 2020/21.
