“Research is pointless unless it offers social return”

Laura Morató

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Barcelona (UB), a diploma in Advanced Studies in Sociology (UB) and a post-graduate in University Teaching (UB), she is also a university expert in Advanced Methods of Applied Statistics from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. She entered higher education in her thirties, in search of a radical career change. After a period as a research and teaching fellow, she now works as an associate professor at the University of Barcelona. This allows her to gain experience in university teaching, in different courses and subjects, as well as in teaching for the private sector. It also helps her to develop her research, where she has been part of the research team for the Social Inclusion in Spain 2008 report.

Her career at the Fundació Jaume Bofill began in 2008 with the Panel de Desigualtats Socials a Catalunya, participating in the debugging, preparation and transfer of databases. In autumn 2014 she began a new stage at the Foundation, as coordinator of different projects within the area of research.
